2025 Advocacy Award Recipient - Brian Auger
Library Director of the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ)

At this year's brunch, we will present Brian Auger with LVSC's 2025 Advocacy Award. Throughout his tenure, Brian has fostered a close partnership between SCLSNJ and LVSC. This partnership led to increased tutor outreach opportunities, expanded conversation group programming, and new sources of fund development. As a result, LVSC has grown considerably and is serving more students than ever before. Thank you and congratulations, Brian!

More about Brian

Brian has been the Library Director for the Somerset County Library System since 2010. Prior to his work in New Jersey, he worked 28 years in three different central Maryland county library systems. He has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Theology from Loyola College and The Catholic University as well as a master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. He has served on the boards of CASA SHaW, the Center School, Alternatives, Somerset Treatment Services, the Somerset County Business Partnership, the Bridgewater-Bound Brook Rotary, the American Heart Association, the Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and has been active in various state and national library associations. Having split his housing between an apartment in Somerset County and a home in Maryland for fifteen years, Brian will be retiring to Columbia at the end of July 2025 with plans to become more active in his parish and community.
