Meet Elizabeth, 2022 Volunteer of the Year
Spotlight on Elizabeth
"Helping students become U.S. citizens gives me great joy."
LVSC Journey: I became a tutor in 2004. I am inspired by being able to change people's lives through teaching them English and helping them to pass the citizenship test.
Day Job: I retired after 28 years at the New Jersey State Library. My last position was managing the grants program for libraries.
Proud LVSC Moment: Since 2007 I have helped 48 people pass the citizenship test. I feel I have received so much more than I have given.
I am honored to be named the Volunteer of the Year along with Allison Caulfield for our work helping students pass the U.S. Citizenship test.
Passions: Hiking, reading, and helping people.
Favorite Book: Character driven mysteries by my favorite authors: Ann Cleeves and Louise Perry.
R&R Spot: Hiking on the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park towpath.
