Why Should Kids Have All the Fun? LVSC's 4th Annual Bee was a great success raising more than $7,500 to support free literacy programs for adults in Somerset County. Many thanks to our generous sponsors, brave spellers, focused judges, committed volunteers, helpful library staff, and kind donors!

In LVSC's version of the Spelling Bee, teams of two came together to spell. We used Official Spelling Bee Words and Rules, but no teams were eliminated in the early rounds; scores were kept. The teams with the highest scores went to the final round where there was elimination until a single team was crowned the winner.
Teams could raise money through ads and boosters. For every $100 that a team raised, they banked a do-over for a misspelled word. In addition to a spelling competition, each team competed on several different levels. There were awards for “Best Team Name,” “Best Team Uniform,” and “Most Team Spirit.” Plus, there was an Old-Fashioned Bake Sale and a guest appearance by Christopher Serrao, one of the 2019 Scripps Bee Octochamps!
