Meet Yvonne
Spotlight on Yvonne
Board member since 2016, Yvonne is Board secretary and Word Judge for LVSC's Annual Community Spelling Bee.
LVSC Journey: I got involved with LVSC because the connection between libraries and literacy is a natural one. I joined the Board in 2016.
Day Job: I am the collection development manager for the Somerset County Library System. In a nutshell I oversee the library collections and select books for the adult fiction collections for the library as well as audiobooks and e-books.
Inspiring LVSC Moment: I secretly listened in to tutoring sessions and conversation groups while working the reference desk at the Bridgewater Branch. I loved hearing the joy in the voices of the tutors and students when another milestone was reached. Tutors encouraged their students to talk to the librarians to practice their English and seek information and leisure reading to help improve their skills. The smiles on their faces after a successful interaction made my day every time it happened.
Passions: Reading, hiking and photography. If my nose isn't in a book then my toes are on the trail with binoculars or a camera around my neck.
Favorite Quote: Be happy and enjoy life -- that was my quote in my high school yearbook and I strive to follow my teenage wisdom.
R&R Spot: Iceland -- I can't wait to go back. Closer to home: Merrill Creek Reservoir just after sunrise in my kayak.
