Our Students Succeed

Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County provides its traditional free one-to-one and small group tutoring to adults throughout Somerset County and surrounding communities. Tutors and students arrange the best time and location for their lessons. ESL students can also take advantage of our new low-cost 12-week ESL program which is in a classroom setting with a profession ESL teacher. Beginner classes are on Saturday mornings and intermediate classes are held on Wednesday evenings.

Are You Ready to Improve Your Literacy Skills?

Register today to become a LVSC student by completing our online Student Application Form. All students are required to pay a $10 assessment fee and a one-time $50 administration fee when matched with a tutor for the first time. In addition to the traditional volunteer tutoring the new ESL classroom program is available. The ESL class requires a tuition of $100 for the 12-week program in addition to the one-time $50 administration fee. The next 12-week session begins on February 1.The dates are listed on the website calendar and below. This program does not replace the traditional one-on-one and small group tutoring.

The private tutoring takes place at the local libraries. The ESL classroom program is conducted at the PeopleCare Center in Bridgewater.
