My student plans to apply for citizenship in a couple of years. Two questions: 1. What resources are there to educate me about the process? 2. He is nervous about the English test. What resources are there for me to assist him?
Thanks.

The first thing you want to do is to find out specifically what is causing his nervousness. Then try to instill confidence. Point out that literally millions of people have taken the naturalization test, passed it, and become citizens. Assure him that by the time he takes the test, he will have all the information he needs to pass. FYI: He will have to take two tests-an English assessment (Reading, Writing, Speaking) and a Civics test. On the following US Citizenship and Immigration Services website you will find detailed descriptions of the tests plus a wealth of prep materials that are downloadable pdfs.

Good luck and keep posting. Jackie
